WHAT KIND OF GOD?
Satan asks a question: Can a human being still hang onto God with love and obedience even if it doesn't seem to pay off? The Book of Job answers: One could. One did. Job's story inspires us to keep going and not give up because we know what he did not: One day this God would come down and become one of us. He would offer to exchange all our suffering for all his righteousness. And he doesn't do it to gain anything. He does it just because that's the kind of God he is.

DO WHAT?
Periodically, God asks us to do things that we don't understand. Namaan the leper finds himself in a situation like that. In those times, the question shouldn't be, "Does this make sense?" The question should be, "Can God be trusted?"

LEARNING THE HARD WAY
Most of us can point to some lesson we learned the hard way. When God asks us to do things we don't understand, some choose to go their own way and end up suffering the consequences. Elisha's servant, Gehazi, thinks his plan makes more sense than God's. As a result, he learns a lesson the hard way.

A TALE OF TWO KINGS
Isaiah ministered during a time of great political upheaval. Early in his career, he advised King Ahaz to trust God rather than seeking out the help of the Assyrians. Ahaz chose not to rely on God and ended up ruining his life. Decades later, Isaiah advised King Hezekiah to trust God. This time, the king took his advice, and God miraculously intervened.
